There are far too many badass mothers in the world to award top prize to any of them, but if we were to go out on a limb and pick one mom for proving motherhood doesn't have to stop you from doing anything, this week's contender would be Anna Young from Salt Lake City. Last weekend, Young ran a half marathon, five months after giving birth to her daughter. Yes, that's 13.1 miles, five months postpartum. The nursing mom also hand-pumped after the first 8 miles and carried on with the race.

Young shared a picture of herself mid-race, mid-pump to the Occupy Breastfeeding Facebook page, where it's now gone viral, with a huge amount of very well-deserved positive feedback for the inspirational mom.

Look at this picture. She's totally — literally — taking it in stride.

Young revealed that on the morning of the race, she nursed her daughter before leaving the house at 4.30 a.m. and nursed her immediately after she crossed the finish line.

She's an avid runner, and signed up to do the half-marathon before she discovered she was pregnant. She also took her baby daughter with her as she trained for the race, pushing her in a jogging stroller. So you could say she already had a head start when it comes to the whole running for 13.1 miles five months after having a baby thing.

But pumping at the same time? That's a whole other skill.

Half marathons aside, all nursing moms will relate to the need to think outside the box when it comes to satisfying their hungry infants. We've all been caught out at the wrong time or the most unsuitable place — but we just have to get on with it and make it work. And we do this day after day without even thinking about it or getting any recognition for it because that's what moms do. It's only when moms like Young are brought to our attention that we sit back and realize how awesome we all are.

And it's not just nursing moms. However we feed our babies — or whether our babies aren't actually babies any more and can feed themselves — motherhood in itself is a constant juggling act.

Nobody expects nursing moms to run half marathons five months postpartum. But Anna Young has shown us that if we wanted to, we freaking well could.
