Reality TV star breastfeeds on live TV because hungry babies don't wait

When a baby needs fed, everything else has to be put on hold. Including live TV appearances. OK, so that's not something many breastfeeding mums have to deal with, but reality TV regular Sam Faiers did — and she handled it like a boss.

Faiers was being interviewed on ITV's This Morning on Wednesday about the new series of her reality show The Mummy Diaries, and her 10-month-old son Paul (her first child with fiancé Paul Knightley) decided he was hungry. Well, what's a mum to do? Faiers decided to breastfeed her son live on the This Morning sofa during her chat with hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, covering him with a blanket while he nursed, then passing him to Willoughby while she buttoned up her shirt and carried on with the interview.

Viewers were quick to sing her praises, taking to social media to show their respect for the mum and backing her decision.

We're loving Faiers' attitude. She might not be the average working mum, but she still has to fit the demands of a breastfeeding baby into her schedule and this proves that sometimes you just have to go with the flow — and to hell with what anyone else thinks. All nursing mothers have been there: You're in the most inappropriate place ever and your baby decides they need to eat. Right now. A 10-month-old won't wait patiently for five minutes, no matter how nicely you ask.

Back in July, Faiers caused a bit of a stir when she posted a picture of her breastfeeding her son on Snapchat, with some fans blasting her move. "I'm all for women breast feeding in public but does Sam Faiers really need to put it on her snapchat story," complained one.

In a word: yes. Because that is her story, or at least a huge part of it right now. Breastfeeding is demanding and time-consuming and tiring. Faiers is a reality TV star, and this is her reality.
