It's been a big year for Lochte. After his team took gold for the 4x200-meter freestyle relay at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, his Olympic medal count hit 12 and he became the second-most decorated male Olympic swimmer of all time, second only to Michael Phelps. He went on to compete on Dancing with the Stars partnered with professional dancer Cheryl Burke. The pair finished in seventh place after being eliminated in week eight of the competition.
It hasn't all been good, however — Lochte's Olympic experience took a turn for the worse after he told NBC News that during a night out, he and three of his fellow U.S. swimmers had been robbed at gunpoint by men with police badges. It turned out not to be true, and Lochte later apologized for making up the story to cover up what really happened. According to security footage, Lochte and his teammates had drunkenly vandalized a gas station.

Lochte later paid tribute to Reid for supporting him throughout the Olympic scandal and during his DWTS run, and they moved in together in September.
