Well, it's about time, Natalie Portman. We were getting antsy there, wondering if you punked us with the whole pregnancy shebang just because you looked so good in your '60s-inspired Jackie O maternity wear.
But hey! There's an actual baby now for Portman and husband, Benjamin Millepied. The couple greeted their second child and first daughter on Feb. 22. We love the baby's oh-so-French-sounding name: Amalia Millepied. (We're pretty sure Millepied means "thousand feet" en français, which seems an apt surname for French choreographer Millepied, who met Portman on the set of Black Swan.)

As usual, Portman and Millepied are miserly on details. We know they have already been at this parenting racket for a while, with son Aleph, who's 5. We know they were married in 2012 in gorgeous Big Sur, California. And we know that Portman was pretty mum on the whole topic of her pregnancy aside from one "I'm feeling great" (mid-November at the 30th Israel Film Festival Anniversary Gala Awards).
OK. We grudgingly respect your tight-lipped approach to pregnancy and motherhood, Natalie, but a few sound bites might be nice.
Portman skipped the Oscars last Sunday to have Amalia. She's good with the priorities. Respect.

We did find one other (rare) 2016 quote from Portman on parenthood that we thought we'd share: “[Parenthood] made me much calmer under stress, because there’s that weird parent thing you develop, that when things get really bad, your voice gets calm and your blood pressure slows, and you can make everything OK again,” she said.
We are well-versed in the "weird parent thing" for sure.
We doubt we will be seeing — or sharing — any Instagram pics of Amalia soon. Natalie Portman don't roll like that, yo. Do not mess with the Black Swan and her babies.
