"This is the definition of strength, love, and pure raw beauty," the post from Kate Murray Photography begins. The story she tells details the plight of the mother, who discovered she had stage 3 breast cancer halfway through her gestation. She underwent a mastectomy, keeping her other breast, and began chemotherapy that she continued throughout the remainder of her pregnancy.
She was induced four weeks before her due date to receive more treatment, and her baby (a surprise boy, as she chose to not find out the sex of her baby before birth) was born healthy.
Mom fighting breast cancer nurses baby
When she brought her gorgeous baby to her remaining breast for the first time, the photographer was on hand to document this breathtaking moment. Emotions are raw and overwhelming when a baby is born, and it was even more so for this beautiful mama and her newborn son. You can feel the strength, the joy, the sorrow and the thrill of this golden moment with these images, and I'm so happy the mother chose to allow these precious photos to be shared with everyone.

Kate writes, "He latched on to her remaining breast all on his own and the room erupted in so many emotions. Breastfeeding is such a sacred bond, and this one just makes my heart break and swell at the same time. I am beyond blessed to have met and gotten to know this woman and her family, and so honored she asked me to be there to document these precious moments. Please share, and continue to pray for this family as they go into their next journey together!"
