The actress and mother of two has posted numerous photos of herself nursing her sweet children, Milo and Elizabella, and often takes the opportunity to share her thoughts on normalizing breastfeeding — particularly breastfeeding in public. But in a recent interview, Milano admits to wanting to nurse her now 1-year-old daughter until she's... 6!

Milano sat down with Entertainment Tonight to promote her new line of designer paper towels, and when asked about the backlash she often receives for posting breastfeeding photos to social media, she said, "You know what? I don't care. I'm going to keep breastfeeding, maybe even until [Elizabella is] 6!” Boom!

Milano pointed out how the world seemed to be fine with the barely there outfits Miley Cyrus wore to host the MTV Video Music Awards a few weeks ago but ironically always seems to give her crap when she posts a photo of herself feeding her child. “Everyone's fine with her nipples being out,” Milano said. “I think people are more comfortable sexualizing breasts than relating them to what they were made for, which is feeding another human.”

As any mother knows, breastfeeding seems to be one of the most divisive parenting subjects out there. It almost seems like no matter what you do — choose to formula feed, choose extended breastfeeding — people will question or criticize. And these questions or critiques — even if just in the form of a raised eyebrow — can often cause women to wonder if how they're choosing to parent is "right." Nothing, after all, makes us more vulnerable than our children. The beautiful thing about Milano is, like she said, she just doesn't care. That's always how it's been for her, and it's not going to change.

And despite the backlash Milano has received for her nursing selfies, she continues to post them.

Criticize her all you want, but the woman is strong in her beliefs, and she's not going to deviate from them, regardless of what other people think. And that's exactly what women need. Not every new mom is as secure in her decisions as Milano is in her own. Not every woman is immune to the stares and tight-lipped smiles when it comes to their parenting choices. Having someone like Milano, who's loud and proud, is a good thing — even if her choices differ. She's someone who feels strongly about what she's doing, and she won't be swayed — even if people disagree with her.

Milano admits she was just joking when she said she was going to nurse her daughter until she's 6, but in a way, it's the perfect response to people who want to roll their eyes at her choices. And hey, if for some reason she decides otherwise, I have a feeling she'll stick to her guns and never look back. May we all should be so lucky!
