Last week Matt posted a video of him singing a lullaby to his baby on his Facebook page with the caption: "A friend of mine asked if I'd write a song for my new-born daughter Ivy. I'm not great with soppy daddy stuff so came up with a fun song about the adventures kids must go off on when dreaming."

The video shows Matt sitting beside a sleeping baby Ivy (who was 11 days old at the time), playing his guitar to her as he sings about adventures involving monkeys and penguins.

Within a few hours the clip had racked up thousands of likes and encouraging comments were flooding in from all over the world, prompting Matt to write another Facebook post saying how "blown away" he was by the positive response.
“At first I just posted it to a few friends and family on Facebook and then they started sharing it," Matt told the Birmingham Mail. “I posted it quite late in the evening and got the initial likes from family and friends, and I just thought that it was because when you post a video of a baby to the Internet you’re going to melt hearts. “

Although Ivy is already sleeping in the video Matt revealed that she was actually a great help during the songwriting process: "I was looking after her at about 11 o’clock at night and she was nodding to the bits she liked and stopped to the bits that she didn’t! (sic)
“It just sort of came together, it only took me about 20 minutes or so," added Matt, who wrote songs and performed in a band when he was younger. "I think I’d like to try to write more songs. It is the first children’s song I’ve written."
