The family told the Springfield News-Leader that he arrived after an unscheduled C-section, and he weighs more than 2 pounds more than his older brother did when he was born. They expect to see him in the NFL and seem amused by their "huge" baby.
While he's definitely a big baby, he didn't set any records in the state or elsewhere. According to Guinness World Records, the biggest surviving baby ever born arrived in 1955 in Italy, weighing 22 pound, 8 ounces. Mama mia!

And it's not such a bad thing that he didn't set a record. Rates of big babies in general have been rising over the years, and while they're all sort of adorable with those rolls and chubby thighs, bigger isn't always better.
While babies born at extremely low birth weights face a host of potential challenges and complications, there are risks associated with delivering a large baby as well. For example, the reason many mothers deliver large babies is due to gestational diabetes, which then puts their children at an increased risk for obesity, diabetes and metabolic syndrome as they grow.

Of course, many families have big babies who grow up to be perfectly healthy, which we hope is the case with Kasen. We'll be looking for him on the football field one day.
